TCS 5 points clear in third place, ready for the chase to the end of the season.

This week's match saw ISCA E visit Monkton Heathfield having lost the previous week to promotion rivals East Devon C. Taunton CS aimed to kick ISCA while they were down and take the title race down to three teams. The tough decision of leaving Bill 'stuck in phantom traffic' Horner on the bench was made easier by the fact that he didn't make the game until the first whistle blew.

The game began with TCS having a lot of early possession with passes into the D causing problems for the ISCA defence but with no real outcome. Eventually a swift piece of attacking play from TCS through the middle of the pitch found Jamie Everett in space with numerous options to advance. He wisely selected the skipper, Andy Carter who was in an acre of space on top of the D and coolly swept the ball on the reverse under the keeper and into the corner of the goal.

Shortly after TCS won a short corner and, after some discussion between the umpires and other players, a goal was eventually awarded to the skipper despite the ball finding the roof of the net off of the first shot. The decision being correct as it had deflected off of a defenders stick. The rest of the half was fairly even with the TCS defence making the best work of numerous attacks by the ISCA forwards.

Special mention should go to DJ Woody for his constant and consistent harassment of the ISCA defence and one gentleman in particular who would have been happy to hear the half time whistle just to get a bit of rest, and get away from DJ's interesting cologne.

The half time talk this week was monumental, expansive and inventive as the skipper tried to encourage more goals, a clean sheet and, at long last in the season, a well timed Julian 'Adriannnnn!' Brown tackle (fear not, we are still waiting).

Man of the match Jack 'UB40' Daly took the stage in the early second half and began to show why he really ought to sack-off the bad habit of working on a Saturday. A tap in from the left hand post from UB40 Daly was the first goal of a combative second half. The most surprising aspect being that Bill 'Traffic man' Horner (usually renowned for poaching at the back post) was the provider for the squatter on his patch.

A second Daly goal followed shortly after as he found space on the touchline thanks to some great play form 'big' Joe Wadden. Jack found it in his heart to set the skipper up for another hat-trick of the season but decided to play the ball with all the power required to send the ball from end to end - a big problem as he was at most, a yard away. Despite this Carter managed to trap the ball, recover it from the keepers legs and send the ball back to Jack to finish off expertly. Special mention to Carter who ensured that the keeper was going nowhere by pinning his legs in place with a well placed stick.

The game finished at a canter and a 4 -0 score line reflected the true dominance the TCS side displayed throughout the game. Next week we face ECV Hornets away from home without goal keeper Mike 'no balls' Whitman and UB40 Daly unless he kicks the habit mid-week.

DOTD this week went to Jason Harris who proved that he may want to play twos but he is not quite at that standard - he'll be sent back to the big chief Johnston with a big bow and a request that the ones make the most of his fine services. (Love you Jason).
