TCS A 7 V 0 Yeovil and Sherborne B

Taunton CS started the new season at a new match venue, Bishop's Foxes school, and the result was emphatic. After finishing third in the previous two seasons this CS side is one desperate to secure promotion and the quest began with a tough match against one of last season's relegated teams, Yeovil and Sherborne B.

In the first half TCS showed a level of dominance that eased the nerves with plenty of early possession and some crisp passing taking advantage of a Yeovil side thrown together for the first time. A swift break down the left and a ball slid back into the danger zone found Jason Harris in acres of space and he calmly swept the ball in to open the TCS A scoring account for the season. This goal was quickly followed by some fine goal line striking by Jamie Woodland ably assisted by brother Sam.

Moments before half time TCS grabbed a third with a strike from the edge of the Yeovil D finding the net from the stick of Andy Carter. Some fine defensive play by Steve Grenfell, Karl Patrick, Dan Adams, skipper Conor Neal and new goal keeper Curtis Bradley ensured the three goal lead at half time. After some exceptionally motivating words from Mr Neal TCS A came out for the second half to try and turn up the skill level in the passing game and set a good standard for the season to come.

Early on Carter bagged his second with a reverse from the top of the D, followed by Jamie Woodland making it 2 for his personal tally shortly after. A brief lull in the goal scoring meant that Yeovil could push forward with some attacking play of their own and with a more clinical touch they may have found some success but the TCS A back line remained very strong and kept everything at bay.

Later in the half Carter notched up the hat trick and New youngster Josh Upham rounded out the scoring with a fine tap in from a goal mouth scramble set up by a rare foray into the attacking D from veteran Steven Grenfell. The Game finished 7 - 0 to TCS A but a special mention must go to the Yeovil keeper - a stand in and first league game in goal - it isn't pleasant standing in there for the first time and he made some fine saves.

Overall a good start to the season for TCS A: 7 goals, a clean sheet and no cards recorded. Now let's push to keep this form going.
