Mid Somerset B 4 - 3 Taunton CS A

An away game at bottom of the table Mid Somerset felt like a banker at the start of the day with a strong TCS side travelling to Wells in search of 3 more points. Both teams started well and had early chances and TCS pushed hard for an opener to settle early nerves. The deadlock was broken by an extremely unlikely candidate - a man who recently revealed he reads these match reports whilst relieving himself (best not touch his phone from now on!) - Conor Neal.

Mid Somerset had some very strong players through the spine of their team and they combined well to draw level before the half time whistle. Parity at half time and after a few gentle agitating words for the away goalkeeper, 'Big Bad Bob', TCS took their seat for a motivational team talk. Unfortunately the Mid Somerset team talk was far more motivational and within five minutes of the restart they had taken the lead.

TCS pulled back level as a bobbling ball found former Mids player Carter free at the top of the D and a topped miss-hit clipped the post and trickled across the line. Mids then struck again as a short corner - drilled low and hard at Jason Harris - ricocheted off of the Mexican's stick and found the top corner of the TCS net.

A third equaliser was required by TCS and scored by the phenomenal, sexy and downright heroic Conor Neal (sorry all readers, just thought that if his mid morning dump was a disappointing affair we could at least put a small smile on his little face). With both sides feeling the strain of a very competitive game and feminine tempers flaring in the TCS backline, the Mexican went on the hunt for his weekly green card, swinging a wild stick at a mids forward - lucky not to see a green card or the wrath of a clearly irked Steve Dowden.

To quote Captain Danno - 'Cometh the hour ... cometh the hour' and cometh the final goal of the game. Unfortunately the goal went to the home side as the stronger players of the Mids side linked up again and smashed the ball past Julian Brown in the TCS goal. TCS heard the final whistle and with many players feeling menstrual about the day's events they were beaten for the first time this season.

MOTM went to Joe Johnson for an exceptional performance at the back in a tough match - great tackling and well timed passes turned defence into attack quickly. DOTD went to Jason Harris. Chin up fellas, we get to travel to Sidmouth next.
