Impressive performance, imposing result.

With Taunton CS A dried, pressed and ready to go after a rainy gap from league hockey the previous week, the sun was shining and the the team welcomed Minehead B to Bishop Fox's. The team also welcomed two newcomers in Josh and Nick, playing their first game for the club, and who acquitted themselves well being involved in a lot of the good play across the team.

Within minutes the home team established their dominance and took an early lead with some slick play and from that point they didn't look back. By half time the lead had stretched to 8-0 with contributions from a range of players. Goals were scored by a variety of players with a particular entrant to the highlight reel provided by Mike taking an aerial ball under control on the reverse and turning to rifle the ball into the top corner drawing a reaction from Minehead defender, 'well what's the point , that is just ridiculously good'. There was great build up play on the flanks from Josh and Brandon matched by penetrating performances in midfield from Rhys, Jason, Nick and Mike that continued to prove a threat. The forward line kept the Minehead defence busy and created chance after chance and opening the way for the midfield to rack up the goals. Although not often tested, the TCS defence of Jules, Dan, Brandon and Josh stayed resolute and ensure that Bob could keep the shutout alive.

In the second half , the TCS team came out clearly wanting more and banged in another 8 goals including a questionable back stick reverse from Jason, an excellently fine deflection from Mike and a rarely spotted goal for Rhys. An injury for Mark late in the first half meant that he could not get amongst the second half flurry of goals but Mike and Jason filled the gap well adding to their tallies for the game with Mike ending on 8 and Jason notching up 4. A slight shift in formation saw the majority of the play being played in the Minehead half but again, the now three man defence marshalled the game well and prevented Bob from even getting a touch. Some excellent control in the D from Nick drew a foul from the Minehead keeper and resulted in a penalty flick and fortunately the TCS team had practised them in training just days before. Duty fell to Mike in the absence of current 'top of the list' Jack Daly who was absent this week, presumably attending a wellness retreat and indulging in a juice cleanse to really focus on balancing his chi. Mike hadn't missed in training, however the pressure of the moment told and a fine reaction stop meant there was no triple hat-trick today.

Man of the match for this game was shared between Brandon and Mike with a number of votes also for Jason, Josh and Nick.

The game ended 16 - 0 with Toron bagging a brace and Captain Carter adding the final goal. The game was played in good spirit and there is positive signs for the season ahead. Next week sees the team travel to Bridgwater to face top of the table Bridgwater B who are as yet unbeaten.
