Saturday saw TCS A travel to Chard to line up against a chard B side second from bottom. The sun was shining on the South Somerset town which made for a pleasant atmosphere as Taunton's grizzly old men lined up against the young and old in the green and white of Chard.

TCS established an early foothold in the game they never looked like losing. Despite some difficulty in front of goal at the attacking end, the back line showed resilience, determination and skill in snuffing out any chances or faint opportunities offered by the home team. After some slow build up, the TCS chances soon started to flow, but stout defending by the central defensive pair of Chard and fine work from their keeper kept the reds at bay in the early game. Eventually though, what felt like an inevitability was realised when a comfortable short corner routine was tucked away by in form midfielder Mike Eele to open the scoring. TCS's second goal was a fine strike/woeful miss hit from the stick of Jack Daly which lifted beautifully/sliced horrendously over the Chard keeper. Mike stuck away a second of the half for himself before half time and the away side took a 3 goal lead into half time.

No Sparta style team talk at half time for TCS today, just some chat about how to maximise chances and to play our game rather than the pedestrian pace offered to this point.

The second half started much the same as the first with some bitty play but soon erupted with some flowing moves and deft finishing as Mike notched another two to his tally - the golden stick could be presented before the Christmas break at this rate. What followed on the pitch was the common silliness that feels ever present when TCS make the journey to Chard with skipper Carter encouraged to spend some time on the side line thinking about his behaviour after shrugging off the 'advances' of an overenthusiastic Chard player. The naughty step was becoming busy when Dan asked too many questions of the umpire shortly followed by Nick who only asked one, but it wasn't a good one. The unruly bunch being absent made no difference to the play on the pitch with TCS dominating and Jack Daly grabbed himself another goal volleying in after a save was parried by the Chard keeper.

Overall a positive game full of incident with goals, cards and a sublime sliding tackle through the leaves by chief goal scorer Mike .

Man of the match quite rightly went to Mike Eele the other award went to Nick for his yellow card.
